VOTE 2024

"I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people.
Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. "

- The Apostle Paul to Timothy | 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Election season is here again and it is a good time to remind ourselves what the Word of God says about politics and how we should approach the subject as Christians.

First we should take Paul's advice to Timothy,
to pray. Whether we agree with them or not, we should pray for our leaders. We should pray that their hearts would be open to God's truth on the issues that are set before them and that the will of God for our nation would be accomplished.

Next, we must vote. It is our civic responsibility to cast our vote in elections that are held in our Democratic Republic, and it is our spiritual responsibility to use that vote in a way that glorifies God and furthers His agenda and not just the agenda of a candidate, political party or pundit.

We are blessed to live in a country where we have the opportunity to regularly take stock of our government's state of affairs and make our voices heard by casting our vote in a safe and organized manner, and to have the outcome of our elections result in peaceful transitions of power. Let us not ever lose sight of that or take it for granted. Instead, let us gain clarity from the Word of God and responsibly exercise our freedom to choose our leaders.
